About Me

I guess it would be useful to give you some information about myself, so let me start by saying hiya! Hope you've got yourself a nice cuppa tea whilst reading this, as you'll probably soon learn that tea is one of my absolute favourite things!

First of all, I'm Kayleigh. I'm 24, and live in Carlisle, which is in Cumbria - right up north in England for those not too familiar with the place! I've created this blog as a positive outlet for my mental health, and to write whatever pops into my mind. The theme of this blog is going to mostly focus on mental health: how my life is impacted by my disorders, any self help strategies I've tried that are helpful, what's going on in my head etc. I'm also going to try and promote positivity on here, because whilst it doesn't cure mental illness or take anybody's life stresses away, sometimes it can really help to share positive thoughts.

I have Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), a type of Bipolar Disorder called Cyclothymia, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) traits. I've also struggled with self harm, binge eating (still something I'm learning to deal with), bulimic traits, insomnia, generalised and social anxiety and panic attacks (these still occur, although nowhere near as bad as in the past).

Because of my mental health journey, I've always been interested in psychology and the way the brain works. I'm currently studying an Open Degree via the Open University, focusing on counselling and psychology.  I'm the type of person who has an emphatic nature and likes to help others. Even if I don't have the answers or can't provide advice, I know what it's like to feel alone so I always try to lend an ear to those that need to talk.

My other interests besides psychology include football (massive Carlisle United fan), music (slowly learning to play the guitar via YouTube and books), make up and beauty products, reading and of course everybody's favourite, Netflix! My family and friends are really important to me, and I love spending time with them in whatever capacity. I live back at home with my parents these days, where we have 4 cats (1 of them I adopted when living away) and 2 dogs, so it's pretty much a mad house. I also have a two year old niece who I am really close to, and see at least once or twice a week and speak to on FaceTime most days (she's obsessed with it on my sister's phone!).

My Twitter is @_kayleighsays - feel free to follow me!
